VENEZUELA

In Venezuela the social reality is one of the most degraded in the world, especially in the slums of the capital Caracas, where violence is the order of the day. 

In Catia, one of the largest slums of Latin America, the Salvatorians have built and manage two hospitality centres, five primary schools and two secondary schools, allowing the street children to have lodgings and an education.

Three young lads who live in the 'Family-homes'. Thanks to the hospitality and the care of Salvatorians Fathers, they have re-found the possibility of a serene future.

1000 children in the schools - 50 children in the Family-homes

Objective:

To guarantee education and protection for the children who live in the slums of Catia, offering them the possibility of a better future.

Activity:

Construction of a multi-purpose hall at "La Constancia" school complete with hygienic services, storage, a small office and a playing field. Installation of a water tank.

MEXICO

The Salvatorians work in this country to help the youth, in particular, to face and resolve the problems that afflict them, such as violence, unemployment, and the lack of opportunities in society.

Because of this, the Salvatorians are building in Campeche, one of the 31 Mexican States, a structure that can host and help men, women and many youths in difficulty.

The project - The construction of a youth centre

PROJECT HAS BEEN IMPLEMENTED

 

 

Padre Sebastian needed a youth centre to create an effective place where to meet children and young pleople with broken and difficult families.

Beneficiaries:

5,000 young people from the region of Campeche.

Objective:

To reintegrate young people in difficulty into society, by providing spiritual and psychological assistance 24 hours a day.

Activity:

The construction of a youth centre, identification of professional staff and the implementation of a strategic plan.

BRAZIL

The Salvatorians have been present in Brazil for more than a 100 years with communities in many poor regions. This project is located in the township of Coelho Neto (48,000 inhabitants) with the objective to initiate rural development, local production and self-sufficiency in food.

The project - Rural Development and the fight against malnutrition in Brazil

 

This project represents a most important ‘Test’ that will allow the expansion of the model to other regions and Salvatorian communities.

Health and development 

Beneficiaries:

About 160 people (40 peasant families) half of whom are children, living in conditions of extreme poverty and semi-illiteracy.

Objectives:

To improve access to food for 160 people of the community, and consequently to better their health, reduce the state of misery and permit them very slowly to have access to medical and educational services by payment.

Activity:

  • The provision of water tanks for the breeding of fish
  • The improvement of the system for the breeding of goats
  • The implementation of an adequate system of cultivation (Mandala System)
  • The development of small techniques of commerce and business enterprise
  • The purchase of an agricultural tractor
